2 Chronicles 21-24

(21v7) Jehoram remains as king, but not because he has earned God's blessing or God's endorsement. Rather, God remembers His covenant with David. God has a bigger picture in mind.

2 Chronicles 17-20

(18v7) The king of Israel, Ahab, hates Micaiah because of what he says. As a prophet, Micaiah brings the word of God to the people. Ahab cannot avoid being convicted, but refuses to be convinced.

Psalm 13-16

5 There they are in great fear, For God is with the generation of the righteous.

I don't miss the anxiety of the lost. It is so secure in God's hands. Thats where the pleasure and the joy is "forevermore": anywhere else the joy just slips through your desperate hands like water.

2 O my soul, you have said to the LORD, “You are my Lord, My goodness is nothing apart from You.”

I am good, kind, righteous, just, holy...only to the degree I identify with my Saviour who alone is good, kind, righteous, just, holy.

Psalm 9-12

4 The wicked in his proud countenance does not seek God; God is in none of his thoughts.

All our morality devolves from God. To reject Him is to reject the objective standard of morality.

Psalm 5-8

3 My voice You shall hear in the morning, O LORD; In the morning I will direct it to You, And I will look up.

God is ready to receive our prayers at the very beginning of the day. As soon as we are ready, He is ready. There is no waiting period before we can wait on Him.

Psalms 1-4

8Ask of me, and I shall give thee the heathen for thine inheritance

Lord my God, I ask you: give me the heathen for my inheritance. Let your Son enjoy the inheritance He gave His life for. Father let me see the harvest come in.

Job 39-42

10 And the LORD restored Job’s losses[h] when he prayed for his friends

There's a motive for prayer.

Why doesn't God mention the young man, Elihu?
