Job's friends accuse hm with a simplistic theology: you need to pray or else bad things will happen to you. Fear keeps you prayerful, they imply, and at one time, Job (with his regular sacrifices in case his kids sinned) would've agreed. But it didn't work for Job and it doesn't work for us. Fear paves the way for the Devil. Faith invites the Lord's intervention.
