Leviticus 1-3

The sacrifices are to be 'without blemish' and 'unleavened'. Only pure, unadulterated sacrifices are accepted. The 'salt of the covenant' must be added to all grain offerings. Acceptable sacrifices produce a pleasing aroma to the Lord. The sacrifices could only be offered by a chosen priest.
We see the necessity of purity, and a link to the covenant promises of God. Yet no animal sacrifice could take away sin. Only Christ is able to perfectly fulfil every part of the sacrifices, with whom God is 'well-pleased'.
