Amos 1-9

The judgements against Israel's neighbours reveal its never good to gloat. We must preserve a heart of mercy, even when people fall into the terrible consequence of their actions.

Amos does not shrink back from declaring his message is from God and will come to pass.."I'm not roaring for the sake of it, I've got hold of something from God". How many preachers carry that level of conviction and boldness?

Ch7. God prepares two judgements, yet Amos intercedes and the Lord relents. What privileged access we have, greater than Amos: do we realise the responsibility we have in such a time as this?
