God says "my people are destroyed for lack of knowledge" then later berates them "Because he willingly walked by human precept". So what is the knowledge God requires? "Mercy and not sacrifice, And the knowledge of God" Which is found how? "Obey Him." But it is a heart obedience, following His character of mercy: His Spirit more than His letter.
12.6 So you, by the help of your God, return; Observe mercy and justice, And wait on your God continually.
