Genesis 28-50 (Catch up time!)

Moving from Jacob to Joseph (with a little bit of Judah and Esau here and there), we cannot fail to see that even when God's people mess up, God keeps things on track. The family line that would lead to Christ is protected: the people of God (represented by Jacob and his sons) are saved by a single rescuer (Joseph) who is rejected by his own, punished though he was innocent, and yet ultimately provides salvation from the famine. We see how God chooses to work, and we get an imperfect glimpse of Christ - 'his own knew him not' - 'he was punished for our iniquities' - 'the bread of life'.

Matthew tomorrow!
