(6v2) "...the sons of God saw that the daughters of men were beautiful..."
I understand this to mean the godly line of Seth and the ungodly line of Cain intermarried. This compromise leads to an infected religion - "all the people on earth had corrupted their ways" (6v12). Only Noah stands out - he alone represents the people of God. God passes judgment, but saves His remnant, Noah and his family.
